Why everyone should freelance

Why everyone Should Freelance ASAP

There are many reasons why everyone should freelance and some will surprise you. Has the thought of being your own boss ever popped into your head? How about the freedom to work when you want to and from where you want? Or the possibility to earn more money versus a pre-set salary or hourly wage. Everyone should freelance because we all have a gift, talent, or specialty. Not to mention the opportunity to work at your pace and earn an unlimited amount of money each day, week, month, and year. On a personal example, when I was pursuing purchasing our dream home, I freelanced through Fiverr and literally earned $30,000 in 1 summer. Yes, you read that right, 30 grand in a summer, 3 months! I was on my grind and you can be as well!

Most Freelances use multiple platforms

Right off the bat, I’ll name the top freelance platforms where I have an active freelance profile: UPwork and Fiverr.

These platforms allow freelancers to create a profile and solicit services and also receive requests for services 24/7. The only unfortunate part is they charge you a slight fee. Upwork’s fee is reduced as you earn more money. However, Fiverr charges 20% on every sale and every tip, regardless of your status i.e., Fiverr Pro, Top Rated Seller, etc.

Why I freelance on Fiverr?

I absolutely love the idea that Fiverr has its own Search Engine Optimization algorithm to rank and display seller profiles. At one point, I thought I loved it most because it brought me so much business. Basically, it’s like free advertising. Who doesn’t love free advertising as a freelancer?

The fact that customers can leave a review is another bonus. Although I do a lot of work through my site The Professional Proofreader, I get a ton of work as a freelancer through Fiverr. The difference is currently my customers can only leave reviews through Fiverr. Fortunately, for me I was a Fiverr Top Rated Seller, so it worked out fine. These last 2 paragraphs are written in past tense because Fiverr for some unknown reason has demoted me and revoked my top rated status. The funny thing is I literally made more money in 1 month on my website in January 2022 than I did the entire 2021 year on Fiverr! I know, I’m killing it, right?

As I’ve mentioned in other posts I have wrote about Fiverr, they take 20% of all earnings but I counter this by raising my prices. Freelancers sometimes struggle with securing wages commensurate with their experience and quality of work. So reviews greatly help boost a freelancer’s reputation. As your reviews increase, so does the impressions and clicks on your Fiverr freelance profile and gigs.

Making money on Fiverr is easy and can be done by anyone with a skill or talent to offer. The key to success on the platform is understanding how to market yourself and your services effectively. One of the best ways to increase your visibility on Fiverr is to use high-ranking keywords in your gig titles and descriptions. These keywords will help potential customers find your gig when searching for specific services.

Another important strategy is to offer multiple gig packages at different price points. This will give customers a range of options to choose from and will increase the chances of them purchasing a gig from you. In addition to that, providing good customer service and delivering quality work can help to increase your positive reviews. Positive reviews will help to build trust with potential customers, making them more likely to purchase a gig from you.

Finally, it’s important to constantly update your gig with new and relevant skills, to keep you competitive in the market.

By following these tips and strategies, anyone can make money selling on Fiverr. Whether you’re a writer, designer, or musician, there’s a demand for your talents on the platform. So, use my Fiverr Seller Referral Link and start creating your gig today and watch your income grow!

Why I freelance on UPwork?

To be honest whenever I’m on UPwork, I get this feeling like I am amongst an upper class of customers and more experienced freelancers. For one the freelancer profiles are more elaborate than Fiverr. There are opportunities for links in your freelancer bio as well.

Like Fiverr, UPwork allows ratings as well. Again another way to boost your reputation. Unfortunately, my first UPwork freelance editing job was on the book Poison Ivy by Eliam Apone. He gave me 4.5/5 stars and said he just doesn’t believe anything is ever perfect. Unfortunately, his book has been on Amazon over a year and still hasn’t sold. Now, this is a different scenario from the best selling authors I work with like Brooke Goldner MD, author of Goodbye Autoimmune! So I will not take a dig at him but I will say when we treat others great, great things happen for us in return. So yes, I am over that Upwork experience and enjoying working with best selling authors who list me in their books as their editor!

Why I have a profile on Freelancer?

Freelancer is similar to Fiverr and UPwork in the since of it being a platform for freelancers. However, it is vastly different in its layout and appearance. If there was a freelancing site for children, my opinion it would be freelancer. This is due to its very basic layout and my fear of even adding my payment information.

However, I do have a profile for the additional exposure. Every now and then I’ll get a message from site admins to apply for specific jobs. Although it’s a feature that is not available on Fiverr and UPwork, I haven’t had luck with this approach. This leads me to believe those staff messages may be auto generated.

Ultimately, as a freelancer I offer my professional proofreading, editing, resume and cover letters, and ghost writing services on all 3 platforms. This increases my exposure but equally important it allows me to have multiple streams of income. Sometimes I say to myself, this is my Fiverr money, my website money, my UPwork money, and so on.

Should you freelance?

  • Do you want an additional income or an income from your own home?
  • Do you have a few hours a week where you can get paid for your services?
  • Are you tired of having a boss?

If you answered yes, then you should freelance. You could simply turn your Freelance income into an additional source of income by investing the money you earn. Use my Webull Referral Code and we both will earn up to 15 shares of free stock! Use my Robinhood Referral Code and we will earn additional free stocks as well!

If you are looking for passive income, then no freelancing is not the way to go because you have to do work to earn income. As a freelancer you get paid as you work.

Bonus Tip for Beginning Freelancers

Continue to learn and sharpen your skills so you can add value to customers. Think about what you are really good at, how you can help others, what value can you bring to customers, this will help you identify your niche or special area. Is it relationships, how to guides, music, art work, resumes, cover letters, etc. BTW, use my Fiverr Seller Referral Link Good luck!

Make More Money on Fiverr – 3 things to do now!

3 Tips to Make more money on Fiverr

Make more money on Fiverr Immediately

Learn how to Make more money on Fiverr

There are many ways to make more money on Fiverr. This post shares 3 tips you can start immediately. The idea is to work smarter not harder so keep that in mind as you read the tips. You want to be a Top Rated Seller like me, follow my tips!

  1. Raise your Gig prices
  2. Lower your Gig prices
  3. Be competitive

Raise your gig prices

Did you know that you can earn more money on Fiverr by simply raising your gig prices. I was talking to my wife about this yesterday. Months ago, I raised my prices and the first month I did that, I netted over $2,400. In my recent conversation I said, honey I can actually earn more money on Fiverr by working less. If I proofread and edit 2 dissertations per week let’s say at $500 each, I can essentially earn $800 per week. That $800 is after Fiverr’s 20% fee. And with a little simple math, $800 x 4 (weeks) = $3200. That would be a total of 8 gigs per month assuming those dissertations are $500 dissertation gigs. To get to 6 figure status in a month, that’s 280 dissertations at $500 each, not easy but doable!

Try lowering your gig prices

Conversely, you can earn more money on Fiverr by lowering your gig prices. This is basically the exact opposite of working less and earning more. This step ‘lowering your gig prices’ helps you with tip 3, ‘be competitive’. The goal here is let’s say you are competing with a proofreader who professionally proofreads 20,000 word dissertations for $500 with 4 day delivery. You can simply say you will do it for any amount lower than $500 and offer a quicker turnaround time like 2 day delivery. If you truly want to be competitive you can do both, offer a gig at less than $500 words for 20,000 word dissertations and offer faster delivery.

Be competitive

You can be competitive on Fiverr in many ways. You can even offer customers incentives for being a return customer. Some customers purchase gigs without ever interacting with you or sending a message. They place an order, you complete it and you don’t hear anything, not even a review. You can send these customers a message like: if you return, send me a message first for a discount. This will help you establish a line of communication, build a relationship, and also create a repeat customer. Also, try, ‘if you refer someone, I will give you $10 off your next order.’ Again, people wait for these discounts. I had a customer I gave a quote to several weeks ago. They returned this week because Fiverr was offering a 20% off your order coupon.

Adjust your prices

You can adjust your prices, there is nothing wrong with raising or lowering as you see fit. Try it out, take notes on what happened when you raised prices and lowered prices. If you apply the lowering your price, offering faster delivery, you are certainly being competitive. However, my word of caution is make sure you can maintain the level of productivity, especially once the volume of your orders increases. Bonus Tip: If your orders rapidly begin picking up and you are cutting it close on your ability to deliver in less time, raise your prices to slow your orders down.

On that note, I want to talk about raising your prices again, sorry to go back and forth but sometimes it’s good to do that. When you raise your Fiverr gig prices, you create a situation where you will get targeted traffic and serious inquiries. You will know exactly what I am talking about if your gig says you will edit 1000 words for $30, and people start messaging you requesting you edit 2,500 words for $5.

Recap of the 3 tips

  1. Raise your Gig prices
  2. Lower your Gig prices
  3. Be competitive

Make sure you make observations and take notes on the results of trying these out. In closing, give these 3 tips a try to make more money on Fiverr. I look forward to hearing your success stories.

Fiverr reviews from a freelancer on Fiverr

Fiverr Reviews

Fiverr reviews from a freelancer on Fiverr

You are here for the truth, unbiased Fiverr reviews. Well, I’ve got that covered and my goal is to provide you with information to see 3 things:

  • Fiverr is a legit way to make money online
  • It offers a simple to use platform for freelancers to sell
  • People can easily purchase or outsource their work to freelancers on Fiverr
  • There is a way to avoid Fiverr Fees.

Fiverr How to Sell

Learning how to sell on Fiverr is pretty straight forward. First, you need to create a professional profile that will attract buyers. As a freelancer on Fiverr, I have done consultations on peoples Fiverr jobs. One thing I would find is some people wouldn’t smile in their profile picture. I’d tell them something like: think about this, if you were giving me investment advice with that frown on your face do you think I’d continue to use you or make referrals?

Ok, so now you’re smiling. After setting up your profile you need to create your Fiverr jobs. Now that you’re on Fiverr what is a gig? What is a gig you ask? That’s right, Fiverr uses gigs in place of the word “jobs”. So essentially gigs are the same things as jobs. On Fiverr you either purchase or sell gigs. So, you can offer a gig at a price as low as $5. Hence, where Fiverr got their name from. My advice is don’t sell yourself short, offer the price your services are worth. I just got paid $500 for proofreading and editing a 31,000 word dissertation in Microsoft Word. Currently, I’m working on a 83,000 word book for $1,000.

How to make money with Fiverr the easy way

First, to make money with Fiverr quick and easy, you must use the Fiverr app. The Fiverr app is a free download that takes 1 minute. Link it to your profile, turn on notifications, and you are all set. You want to be accessible. This is where the app comes in because you show buyers you are always online. The key with this is buyers will search for sellers using the filter they often want a level 2 or higher seller. In addition, they have a sense of urgency and so they want someone who is online. This is where a level 1 seller can be out a level 2 or Top Rated Seller simply by being online.

How Fiverr works

You have 2 options once you are on Fiverr, become a seller or buyer. This depends on your needs. For example, if you are a blogger and you are looking for resources or help you may want to be a buyer. This allows you to outsource which means paying someone else to write your blog posts. Outsourcing one Fiverr is beneficial because you make a small investment to a freelance writer who can write your posts with SEO strategies and you can monetize those posts. You may also want to be a buyer to get your site or blog designed by someone on Fiverr experienced with WordPress or web design.

Making and Responding to Requests on Fiverr

Fiverr has a section where buyers can make a request and sellers can bid on the request. This is a great place to start for beginners on Fiverr. However, you don’t want to spend your freelance career responding to request. You want to get to a position where people seek you out, search for you and find you. Oh yes, people do use Google search and plenty of Fiverr seller’s profiles rank high in the search engines for certain terms or keywords. This is great because it puts your Fiverr income on autopilot.

 Fiverr how to sell

Fiverr how to sell and become a Top Rated Seller

Become a Top Rated Seller on Fiverr

Currently, I am and have been a Top Rated Seller for over a year. This is where my income started consistently being over several thousand each month on Fiverr. I’m at the point where I can literally work less on Fiverr and make more. My prices are priced appropriately in proportion to my services and quality of work as evidenced by hundreds of 5 star reviews and over 1000 gigs completed.

Fiverr Fees

The last thing I want to mention to close out my Fiverr review is the fees are a little obsessive. This may be what people refer to when they talk about why Fiverr is bad. Fiverr fees aren’t necessarily a bad thing but more or one of the cons of using their services. Fiverr charges the seller 20% of everything. If you sell a gig on Fiverr at $100, minus their 20% fee ($100 -$20 = $80). If you get a $10 tip on top of that $100 gig, it looks like this: $100 -$20 = $80 and $10 – 20% = $8 so you would net $88 on a $100 sale with a $10 tip.

Sometimes your buyer may or may not know about your tip being charged 20%. Sometimes buyers give tips to help you offset your Fiverr fees.

A smart work around for Fiverr Fees

This is a good place to share this tip that you won’t find in other Fiverr Reviews. I have to let you know there is a way to offset this right off the bat; it’s the same thing hairdressers, home sellers, and other professionals do, roll the tip or Fiverr fees into your cost. You can even do both. Here is an example, let’s say you create resumes at $100 and you anticipate a $10 tip, and you know Fiverr is taking a total of 22 dollars from you. You can add that $22 right into your resume gig, so now it becomes a $125 gig with Fiverr fees and the tip included. Once you do that math you now net or walk about with $100. Problem solved and no need to speak on why Fiverr is bad anymore.

Get Good Fiverr Reviews

Aim for 5 star Fiverr Reviews

Reviews on Fiverr

Fiverr operates using a review system with 1-5 stars, and 5 being the highest rating. Sometimes as a seller you will get accidental reviews where someone says they clicked 2 stars by accident. Be persistent and get them to agree to contact customer support. If they don’t, get a screenshot of your conversation with them saying that, and Fiverr customer service will change your rating. Ratings are important to an extent because they determine your search engine rankings on Fiverr. So you want good 5 star Fiverr reviews.

In closing, I hope the Fiverr reviews you have come across combined with this information provide you with guidance on whether Fiverr is for you. In addition, I hope you are reading Fiverr reviews from previous users or freelancers instead of people with no knowledge of the platform or how Fiverr works. Please note that what works for me may not work for you and vice versa. With that being said, I’d love to hear your experience; so, please leave a comment below.

Dr. L – Words of Wisdom for Making a Monthly Income Online Now

I am Dr. L., a leader, an editor, a proofreader, researcher, father, husband, I am making a monthly income online…

…and so much more! I created this blog to share my story and encourage others to think outside the box and hone and apply their skills to capitalize on the millions of opportunities to make money online. Making a monthly income online started as a vision, but my Online Earning Potential turned this into part of my daily life!

How I Have Been Making A Monthly Income Online

Making a monthly income from Fiverr alone

I making a monthly income totaling several thousand dollars from freelancing.

I earn money online by…

I freelance edit and proofread documents for clients I meet online through free leads and referrals. I proofread and edit doctoral dissertations, thesis documents, autobiographies, Amazon best selling books i.e., Goodbye Autoimmune by Dr. Brooke Goldner, The Power of The DM by Justin Douglas, Food is Love by Caela Collins, and many others!

I also earn by…

I blog to share my success story of making money online in hopes of inspiring others to reap the benefits or should I say cash in their bank accounts. The problem lies within; there are so many people that are skeptics. They simply don’t believe you can earn money online. On the other hand, people don’t believe in themselves and don’t realize what they can offer.

As a freelancer I earn by writing…

After becoming a Top Rated Seller on Fiverr, I received a message from Fiverr’s Editor_Picks encouraging me to become a Ghostwriter, one of Fiverr’s fastest growing categories! No more than 2 weeks later, I thought I should take the dive, and I have wrote book chapters, About Us pages for corporate companies, complaint letters for relatives of people who died from Covid-19, and much more.

Fiverr
2016 – PRESENT

Started on Fiverr during graduate school in September 2016. Started off selling my services or gigs for $5 per job, which in reality was $4 after Fiverr’s excessive 20%.

Upwork
2018-PRESENT

Started Upwork in 2018 after getting tired of losing 20% per sale and receiving limited support from customer service to rectify order issues. I was seeking something more upscale and that would produce buyers that were more focused on quality, not low prices.

The-Professional-Proofreader.com
2018-PRESENT

This goes right in line with the paragraph immediately above, well ok, both paragraphs above. I couldn’t bring myself to paying Fiverr 20% of my sales just for allowing me to be on their platform. Equally important is the buyer, they are charged a 5% service fee. What does this do, it drives up prices; sellers, (I’m guilty of this too) have to account for this 20% in their sales. To avoid paying Fiverr’s excessive 20% fee per sale and per tip, I created my own website showcasing my freelance skills and also affording me the opportunity to continue making a monthly income online.

Ratemycollegefootballexperience.com
2007-2015

This is where it all started. My huge aha moment! I finished my undergrad in 2007. I had about a semesters worth of experience with computer science before changing my major in order to keep up with my new lifestyle of being a full scholarship starting Offensive Lineman at a Division 1aa school. Anyhow, upon graduation I had the urge to work from home and I began making a monthly income online. The information I have listed throughout this post all constitute the path that I took to make making a monthly income from home a possibility.

In closing, if you asked me to name someone who is making a monthly income online only one name comes to mind Neil Patel. Neil Patel seems great, and in touch with reality. The only issue with Neil is when he starts talking about the SEO jargon, it gets kind of confusing and some of that can be discouraging.

What I am trying to build is something that if you follow my suggestions, it is attainable. Also, I am posting content and documented proof of how I am making a monthly income online. I do something that sets me aside from some of these “making money online” gurus, I make myself vulnerable. I show myself, my earnings, my profile, etc. This helps my audience know that I am only human, and what I achieve we all can achieve. As a consumer, over the years I have grown tired of reading about so called gurus, that never post about their own profile or how they navigated. The just post affiliate links, which are helpful but they leave out the blueprint. To you, I give the blueprint!

To get start with making a monthly income online, take small manageable steps. Create your seller account via Fiverr.

Fiverr Selling Opportunities

The gig economy is booming, and one of the best ways to take advantage of this trend is by becoming a Fiverr seller.
